The Infamous Masterson’s , positioned in the vibrant core of Moonee Ponds, advertises itself as a stylish, alternative venue , but my latest trip at this establishment resulted in an experience I’d rather forget . While the bar may seem appealing from the exterior , what I discovered behind its threshold was disturbing and far below any standard .
The State of Affairs: Unhygienic and Abandoned
From the moment I walked in , it was evident that upkeep was not a priority at this venue. The floors were sticky , and a foul smell of decaying beverages and filthy restrooms filled the entire pub. Emitting a scent of a mixture of ammonia , old age and a sickly smell. The bar area , which should be the focal point of any pub, was littered with unwashed glassware and trash that looked like it hadn’t been touched in ages . The restroom was in even a truly awful state— clogged , with a snapped lever and walls stained in what I can only assume was feces.

As I dug deeper , I was appalled to find accusations against him involving predatory behavior , with multiple women citing incidents of sending indecent material . Described as excessively forward and here boundary-crossing , Peter Cornwell’s behavior has created an unwelcoming setting for women who visit Masterson’s. His presence at the bar often seemed closer to that of a lurking threat than a genial proprietor .
